In His Time, LLC Announces Closure of Women’s Sober Living Home Amid Ongoing Demand for Recovery Housing

Durango, CO — In His Time, LLC, a for-profit peer-run organization providing drug- and alcohol-free homes in Southwest Colorado, has announced it will close its women’s sober living home effective August 30, 2025. The closure is due to low occupancy and repeated resident behavioral challenges. Meanwhile, the men’s recovery home continues to operate with a waitlist, highlighting the urgent and ongoing need for safe, supportive recovery housing options in the region.

Founded by a Certified Colorado Peer and Family Specialist with over six decades of lived experience in mental health and recovery, In His Time, LLC launched its first recovery residence in July 2024. The homes provide structured, sober environments for adults committed to healing from substance use disorder and rebuilding their lives.

“Recovery is a journey that starts with self-determination,” said the founder. “Peer support plays a crucial role in helping individuals rebuild their lives—offering not only emotional support, but practical help with job searches, budgeting, medical appointments, and more.”

Each residence is staffed with peer recovery coaches provided by the nonprofit Community Compassion Outreach (CCO), including trained peer recovery coaches who bring firsthand experience with addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges. Residents pay a monthly fee of $900, which includes housing and individualized weekly coaching focused on accountability, coping skills, and life goals.

One resident’s return to the program after a relapse underscores the need for sustained support: “He told me he lost 17 months of sobriety,” the founder shared. “But he came back and committed to starting over—this time, with stronger support around him. The judge overseeing his wellness court program was glad to see him back.”

While the women’s home struggled to maintain a stable population, the demand for sober living in the region remains unmet. Many individuals completing inpatient treatment or exiting incarceration must leave their hometowns to access recovery housing.

“We need more recovery residences here,” the founder emphasized. “This work isn’t easy—but with structure, compassion, and the right supports, recovery is absolutely possible.”
